1. FC Nürnberg have added a Scandinavian to their squad, with Even Hovland signing a contract at ‘Der Club’ on Saturday. The centre back moves to the Valznerweiher Sportpark from current league leaders in Norway, Molde FK.

“Even Hovland is a seasoned player who has demonstrated his quality both at Molde and on the international stage,” explained club chairman Martin Bader. “We are confident that he will help us achieve our goals.”

League and cup winner

Even Hovland has made more than 70 appearances in the Norwegian first division. The 1.90m defender has even led his team onto the field as the captain on occasion this season. He won the league title with Molde FK in 2012 and also secured the Norwegian Cup in 2013.

Hovland has played in several of Norway’s youth teams and made his senior debut for his country in January 2012.

“Only positive things”

“If you look at Der Club’s history, the name Tommy Svindal instantly comes to mind, who captained Nürnberg through a successful period. I also had a chat with Havard Nordtveit in the national team. He only had positive things to say,” explained Even Hovland following his transfer. “That’s why I want to help the club return to the Bundesliga as soon as possible.”
